Hi I have a Logitech QuickCam Orbit/Sphere USB webcam. It is detected correctly but I'm not sure if all is well. The correct driver is loaded: lsmod | grep 'pw' returns: pwc 89920 0 compat_ioctl32 13312 1 pwc videodev 32768 1 pwc But when I go into Ekiga -> Preferences -> Devices -> Video Devices there is no V4L input device available. WhenI first ran Ekiga it didn't offer this either. Any ideas? I installed amsn as well (as I had used this before on my Ubuntu box with same webcam and all was working). I can When I go to Preferences and configure webcam the devices show up for V4L and V4L2 but when I select the Device and then Channel the light on webcam stays permanently on and when I select Change video settings nothing happens. Related to Ekiga issue? Any ideas? thanks.

Hi Got this issue partially solved. Finally got Ekiga to recognize the web cam and use V4L/V4L2 - I just needed to installed some extra plug-ins with Synaptic (libpt-plugins-v4l2) and all ok. My Canon MV850i DV cam was working ok from the start using 1394AVC so there was a work-around. Still no luck with amsn though and that's even with compiling latest tar file. At least with the latest compiled tar file it registers an error and pops up with a dialog to send the error log. Cheers mc
