Install new ALSA driver cmpiling from source

Hi guys I have a question about audio driver. To add support for new sound-card a m-audio delta 1010LT , supported by alsa , it's better to install new alsa driver form source how explain in this tutor from alsa web site: http://www.alsa-project.org/main/index.php/Matrix:Module-ice1712 In 64 Studio repo alsa-driver , alsa-lib , alsa-utils ,alsa tolls have no the same version . The tutorial at link above is the right way or not ? Are there other way to install it to add module-ice-1712 support ? bye Guido
