I have a Chaintech AV-710. It has an envy24 chipset which I would like to utilize in the envy24 controls in the sound and video menu. The card works fine but I cannot open envy24 controls at all. I found [this forum topic](http://phoronix.com/forums/showthread.php?t=556) and followed its instructions. While it did give me audio from the optical out I am still unable to open envy24 controls. In the terminal I'll type in: envy24control -c 0,0 and get this: invalid card type (driver is ICE1724) I had trouble with it before when it was loading the HDA intel driver. But after I blacklisted it and the onboard driver, it finally loaded the correct ICE1724 driver. envy24 controls are for the ICE1712 but shouldn't it also control ICE1724 drivers too? Or is there anyway to reconfigure envy24 controls to work with this card?

Hi MadDuk! I don't think envy24control works for your card. Look at: http://alsa.opensrc.org/Envy24Control "Envy24control is a graphical utility for controlling cards based on the envy24 or ice1712 chipset" Have you tried with alsamixer? Hi Guido! Yes, I have a M-audio 1010LT. I saw your other post. Envy24control works fine for that card. You mention year of fabrication and possible problems. I don't know about that, sorry. Have you the option of giving it back to the shop? All I needed was to buy some RCA-male-to-JACK-1/4"-female adapters and put some white tape to identify the connections! They are a bit of a mess. But mind you, it works fine. Cheers! Pablo.

I am testing 3.0 right now

I am testing 3.0 right now and for now I have an onboard HDA ATI soundcard and a Chaintech AV-710. When I first installed I had an older soundblaster card which I wanted to use because of the front case MIDI connections. But of course I was getting an X-run evry 20 minutes. So I went back to my AV-710 which has the much better VIA ENVY24 HT-S chipset. And now no X-runs, except at app opening bursts like soft synths and such. It used to be that you had to write your own /var/lib/alsa/asound.state file for the AV-710. But 64studio 3.0 did it right off but had the HDA_intel driver loaded for the card instead of the ICE1724 driver. So I wanted to get rid of it and the onboard ATI audio. To blacklist the onboard sound and the HDA_intel driver I followed the directions in [THIS THREAD](http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=712908&highlight=disable+sound) And after I rebooted the onboard sound was gone and 64studio had loaded the ICE1724 driver as it should have. I never had to compile any drivers or anything like that. Only to get the digital output to work I followed the instructions in [This topic@Phoronix Forums](http://phoronix.com/forums/showthread.php?t=556) But still nothing from the control panel in 64studio. Buongiorno! -JT

Hi MadDuck Have you see at alsa-project ? What version of 64 STudio have you installed , 2,1 stable or 3.0 testing ? Do you alsa driver default distro version or have you installed the latest by compiling or by repo of Debian or Ubuntu ? How you have add a a support for ice1712 ? I'm interested to know how you do this , because next week I'll install a M-AUIO DELTA 1010LT provide by ICE1712 (Envy24) . I'm not sure to help you , but I think that your info about your installation would be very helpful for me and maybe for other members . Then if you can explain how you make we'll appreciate your help Be patience for my language I'm from Italy See you later Bye Guido
