Hi all. Well I have now got my 64Studio Linux system running. I need to 1. find some drivers for the PCI Firewire card and audio interface. I have visited the FFADO site and gone to what I think is an area to download .deb files from, but I have no idea of exactly which ones I need. Any help for this Windows user would be most appreciated :). Only usually need the one .exe file on Windows LOL. The 64 Studio version I am running is 3.0 beta 3 Thanks Dennis

Dennis, I can't advise with much authority, because I'm not familiar with your interface. I searched a bit, and found some info here: http://www.ffado.org/?q=release/apt Down at the bottom of that page is some info for 64studio. It shows you might want to get these: libffado2 and libffado2-dev ffado-dbus-server ffado-tools ffado-mixer-qt4 There is a note on that last one: NOTE: on 64studio 2.1 this package doesn't work due to a dependency problem. On newer versions it might work. At the very bottom is a mention of a version of Jack configured for firewire, I don't know if the 64studio beta has that in already or not. I'm using a 2.1 install. There is a good possibility that the newer 3.0 beta has firewire support in it already. Since I don't have a firewire interface, I tend to gloss over any discussion of that. If you are new to Linux, think of these different Debian versions like Etch, Lenny, Sid as different major releases of Windows. win98,win2k and so forth, only released more often and (IMHO) more reliable. The stable version of 64studio is based on etch, which the main OS has recently moved to Lenny, and that's what your 3.0 beta is running on (I believe). That last line says that it may work with newer versions, so I would certainly try that. Follow the intructions on the page, then use the 64studio "add packages" to install. If it doesn't work like you want it, you can remove them easily enough. Good luck, and keep us posted!
