i was looking the manuals and on this page: i found about hoq to enable tmpfs, adding "tmpfs /dev/shm tmpfs defaults 0 0" to the "fstab" now, i only have 512MB of RAM. does it make sense to enable tmpfs with small amount of ram?

mt ram is on the low side for everyting lol. but i don't have money. not even to buy 512MB. but i can work with 512. have to improvize. im doing multimedia-work on fluxbox now, f. example.

Your RAM is a bit on the low side for serious multimedia work. I have 2G and since I upgraded from 1G I see a marked improvement in performance, and my system now rarely needs to swap. I am considering getting 4G soon to improve linuxsampler performance.
