"One JACK to rule them all, One Window to find them, One Window to bring them all and in the darkness bind them" When you have ardour and some more jack-aware apps running, connecting them via qjackctl is a real chore. But we have this dark window called patchage... You have a window, where audio ports and cables are blue, Alsa MIDI ones green and Jack MIDI ones are red. You make the connections like in Jack Control, but man, what a difference! There is an ancient version of patchage in the repo. Much better if you go to: The instructions to install are very clear in this site and in the "INSTALL" files, once you have downloaded the sources. Raul and Flowcanvas need some dependencies but the info that "/.waf configure" throws is clear and all you have to do is open synaptic and search for the missing -dev packages. Then, Raul, Flowcanvas and patchage will compile and install without a glitch. (However, if you do as suggested by drobilla (build the entire repository where there are a few more interesting apps) you will have encounter a dependency issue with some package version not available in the hardy repositories. I tried to install it by temporally changing to jaunty but more dependency issues arose and I stepped back. I don't know which package of the drobilla's repository is affected by this) Cheers! Pablo

Patchage demo (sort of)

Hi, I have uploaded a videotutorial on jack connections in my recently created blog, first entry. At 1' 45" more or less I launch patchage. You need some imagination to actually see the details but I hope it is enough to have a general idea. The text explains the video (in Spanish). Cheers! Pablo.

Hi Ttoine! I'll try to make a video with recordmydesktop and put it somewhere. Patchage screenshots are ugly but making connections is very much quicker. That is the point and I can't reflect that in a screenshot! I will tell you when I upload the video. Cheers! Pablo

Yes, it is a very good app.
