Hi folks, I'm a 64 Studio newbie. I haven't even put together a 64 Studio system yet, but I am in the planning stages. I use a MOTU (Mark Of The Unicorn) model "8Pre" digitizer (Firewire interface) and I wonder if there already exists any support for such a beast?

Bucky, If it works with

Bucky, If it works with your hardware, yes, notice ffado developpers. Otherwire, you may better refurb your motu and buy firewire hardware after checking that it is supported or reported to work by the ffado project... Toine

Some of these hardware manufacturers give absolutely no support to linux driver developers, in fact they often attempt to oppose the development. In able to support these devices the developers need to purchase a unit, and reverse engineer the drivers, which is very costly, and often impractical. If you try the 8Pre on FFADO and it works, please let Pieter know ;-) Cheers, Quentin

Oh, FFADO driver... MOTU 8Pre => unknown

OK, I found a reference to the Free Firewire Audio Driver and found their Device support database listing the MOTU 8Pre support status as "unknown". I guess I will need to build a separate system to attempt to bring up 64 Studio while I maintain a working Cubase (WinXP) system. http://ffado.org/?q=devicesupport/list&page=2 I would like to divest myself from Windows entirely and digital recording is a must. So far, 64 Studio looks like a good path, but further testing (and perhaps development) is needed. Rock on! ~{:o)
