sata DVD and HD not recognized
Dear All,
I have tried to install 64Studio 3.0 beta_3 on a new Dell Studio XPS 435MT and failed.
The machine has an Intel i7 920 and SATA2 HD and DVD drives.
After the initial boot, the 64Studio installer refuses to detect the (SATA) DVD drive.
I tried to install with an external USB DVD drive, but the installer fails again because it does not detect the STA hard drive. It also fails to detect the network card. I tried both the 386 version and the amd64 version with the same result.
I Installed Ubuntu Studio 9.04 on the same machine with no problem.
I had previously installed 64Studio 3.0 beta_3 on an old Sony laptop and on a Mac mini (with the same DVD) with no problem. Hence, the problem is not with the disk, not with some incompatibility between the machine and Linux.
I suspect the 64Studio install DVD is missing a whol bunch of drivers that the regular Ubuntu install CD has.
I bought this machine to run musical apps under 64Studio, and I'd love to have a workaround.
Thanks
