Hello everyone. I'm thinking about getting an Acer Aspire One, but I don't know how would it work for my needs. I need to work with audio mainly, because I don't work with graphics at all, and I wanted to know how does the atom processor handles it, if anyone has tried it and if it is good. Thank you very much.

My brother had one of those.

My brother had one of those. he told me he had so many problems with the installation of ubuntu that he had to simply give up. I had a asus eeepc which also uses the intel atom and that was really great for skype and I used it for that only. I had to sell it because it was too small and I have a eye condition so I need a ordinary screen size. for audio production I would think a mac was the best choice. after that any laptop that runs debian based distributions and a good soundcard solution.

I am using an aspire one

I am using an aspire one (AO150) with ubuntu 9.04, and everything works out of the box. However, with 64studio 3 being based on 8.04 (as far as I know), there are some issues that need to be resolved. There are some good howtos on ubuntuforums.org. In ubuntu 9.04 I installed the real time kernel, and Traverso for recording and editing audio. It works ok. Good luck!

What model are you looking

What model are you looking to buy? Mine is an AOA150 and I have it for 8 months now. It is running Ubuntu 9.10 beta and I've not tried it before. However, I am not sure of Atom's performance, but I can tell you it's not that great at all, since it's geared toward people who surf the web, check e-mails, use OpenOffice/Office applications, etc. Mine's purchased for $300.
