64Studio realtime kernel needs direct access to all system resources and that's why it most probably won't "play ball" with virtualbox. Linux has a layer called PAM (= Pluggable Access Module) that governs all access to the kernel - see the settings in the file /etc/security/limits.conf. In 64Studio users in the group audio have highest priority to the kernel processes. This mechanism will not work in virtual environments. It's in fact pointless to use 64Studio in a virtual machine - your host will set the limits to all running virtual Linux systems and block any direct access to the kernel. If you wish to use 64Studio I recommend installing it to another partition on your harddrive. The installer will know how to set up a dual boot system.

>What (real) hardware do you have? Linux - Pardus on a Compaq laptop presario CQ60 And 64 Studio in Virtualbox. >64 Studio has a real time kernel, and does not like virtual environments so much. O.k that's make sense.

Now we are getting somewhere. I noticed virtual box. 64 Studio has a real time kernel, and does not like virtual environments so much. Are you running the virtual machine under windows? In that case you will have the worst of both worlds, as windows will limit the RT performance of 64 studio even if you manage to install it. What (real) hardware do you have?

2.1 is installable if you set the clock back 2 years, and back again after installing the software. 3.0 beta 3 is the most current version, and I would recommend this version.

<2.1 is installable if you set the clock back 2 years, and back again after installing the software. Best thing to do is remove it from the list. <3.0 beta 3 is the most current version, and I would recommend this version. You know i already mentioned that i tried that one also without any succes. I will give one more try ans let you know about my studio64 situation.
