Major distortion using JACK

Hey folks, Ok I'm new to 64 Studio but I like the concept. I've been out of music for a while and want to get back into it. Enough of that. I got 64Studio installed with little pain and now need to make it work for me. One thing that surprised me was that it saw my Lexicon Omega mixer and my usb trun table out of the box. Fanstastic!! The problem I've run into is no matter how I adjust JACK my sound is very distorted. Even when I get music from my cd. I've been looking in the forums but have found nothing that solved it. All suggestions welcome TNX kuzon Running HP DV6000 amd 64bit dual core 2GB ram linux 64studio 2.6.21-1-multimedia-amd64

There is such an app, but not released yet. Ardour 3 In the mean time I normally use a combination of ardour and rosegarden, but since I do not play with midi so frequently this is not a problem at all. Having all in one app will surely help a lot though.

I have had distortion issues as well on some usb sound devices. My advice would be to change the parameter "Periods/Buffer" from 2 to 3. This solved it on my laptop. It just gives one more level of buffering, helping to sometimes inefficient USB transport to catch up to itself sometimes. The result is a little higher latency, but distortion free sound. Hope it helps Quentin

Hey Quentin, That worked

Hey Quentin, That worked like a charm. Never thought a difference of 1 could make such a difference. Thanks a bunch. One other question. I want to do midi with my workstation, play live bass and hack sound. Is there one OpenSource app that does it all? If not what apps do you use in your studio? Thanks again kuzon
