Hey all! I'm trying to figure out what to use, and how to use, apps or tools to utilize the built in wireless card on my laptop. I'd like to completely switch over to using 64 Studio as my main OS, but I'm going to need wireless connectivity. What should I use, and is there any configuring involved?

Wireless networking and 64studio

I'm in the same boat. I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop and would like to switch over totally to 64studio. So far everything seems to work fine with it installed on a VMware virtual machine (as far as networking using the bridged interface) I haven't tried doing any music, midi or audio production yet. The problem I am having is when I run the OS dual booted from an external HD. Fore one thing it only boots up every third time (I get a Grub 0.97 error #21 message, or just a blank screen.) I had to install the Grub boot loader into the Master boot record of my internal HD (it wouldn't install it to the external) this means I can't boot anything without the external drive connected (which is a major problem as I need to be able to take my laptop anywhere). When I do get it booted and use 64studio, I get no network connectivity, my touch pad/ mouse pointer thingy (for lack of a better discription) moves extremely slow (even with the speed setting adjusted to the fastest possible setting). Another thing I noticed upon installation was that the default size for the swap space was 2.7 GB. From everything I've read so far, the swap space shouldn't be any larger than 500 Mb. I am new to the Linux world and would love some advice. I am so sick of Windows OS and can't wait to be solely running Linux distributions. I plan on installing Fedora core (6 to begin with, as I have the respin) because I would like to try out the Planet CCRMA apps. Thanks, Frank
