i like to check in and see how many years late things are... i think we all appreciate the development that went into 64studio, but at this point, the "community" side of things should just be shut down. i for one hope there is a commercial endeavor that the devs are working on that is making them $$. at the same time, it *still* looks like business as usual on the site, http://www.64studio.com/, which is far from the reality. the statement from 2007 on the site is quite out of date. i have only ever been extremely frustrated with the lack of communication. 64studio is dead, and openDAW never was...
Is opendaw already an abandoned project? Nowadays Debian Squeeze is in very stable state, and a long waited Ardour3 is just around the corner. Meanwhile the linuxaudio community suffers from lack of a rock-solid distro recently. I will be glad to learn about any news about the progress of this (too) long awaited project.
cheers Biser ;)
Hi Biser, no, OpenDAW is not abandoned, we have a product for Sourcefabric based on it, and we use the 4.0 beta in-house too. We haven't had much feedback from the community on the 4.0 beta though.
Hi TC, what I've noticed is that Dan, Free &c are commercially minded as well as well-meaning hobbyists. I'm going on the examples of Dan's book (£16), the Indamixx releases (99$ per pro download or hundreds for pre-installation on hardware), the African radio project and the hearing aid. So I guess some deal has held things up during which time they leave GRUB broken.
This has made me think about trying to fix GRUB but my skills are very limited.
Why does it have to be so secret? The only result seems to be that almost none of the old users seems to trust the 64studio team anymore and there are plenty of good distros to use now. Including Debian Squeeze itself. I'm afraid that with this attitude, Opendaw will be a failure just like 3.0 was.
in these forums i'm like a voice in the desert of nothingness
aka the last user of 64studio - walking around the desert of nothingness and sees mirages (lol)
like i said a year ago
