I did an install from 64studio1.0 and upgraded to 2.0 far, so good. After that, I installed a few extra packages with synaptic : openoffice, vlc and vlc plugin for firefox, dvdread3, a kde app which handle wireless connection, gdebi, aeolus, lmms. The issues I encountered at that stage : 1)Jack doesn't start . The jack real time error occurs with both the internal sound card and my RME hammerfall. I can't exactly remember , but it mentions something like not finding /dev/shm (?) or someting like that. 2) I can't access any of the admin functions (network, etc) Probably my mistake at the beginning, as I used the same password for the user and admin. I changed the user password since, but still get the same issue : I get a message saying that I don't have the admin rights, even though it asked for the admin password. BTW, synaptic and terminal are working fine in admin mode. 3) no go for my wireless netgear MA521 (working out of the box on Ubuntu 6.10 for reference). I installed ndiswrapper with synaptic, but couldn't get anything working. Here is part of the process that I followed : 64studio:/home/do# modprobe ndiswrapper FATAL: Module ndiswrapper not found. 64studio:/home/do# ndiswrapper install/manage Windows drivers for ndiswrapper usage: ndiswrapper OPTION -i inffile install driver described by 'inffile' -a devid driver use installed 'driver' for 'devid' -r driver remove 'driver' -l list installed drivers -m write configuration for modprobe -ma write module alias configuration for all devices -mi write module install configuration for all devices -v report version information where 'devid' is either PCIID or USBID of the form XXXX:XXXX, as reported by 'lspci -n' or 'lsusb' for the card 64studio:/home/do# ndiswrapper -l no drivers installed 64studio:/home/do# ndiswrapper -i /home/do/Desktop/ndis/NET8180.INF installing net8180 ... 64studio:/home/do# ndiswrapper -m adding "alias wlan0 ndiswrapper" to /etc/modprobe.d/ndiswrapper ... couldn't add module alias: at /usr/sbin/ndiswrapper-1.9 line 717. 64studio:/home/do# 64studio:/home/do# iwconfig lo no wireless extensions. eth0 no wireless extensions. 4) I tried to install keepass (working fine on all my previous attempt so far) with gdebi, and then with dpkg in a terminal...dependance hell, even though it is supposed to be debian compatible. 5) the midisport1*1 that I use in musical workshops is working fine with STG. No go in 64studio. I know it has been mentionned in the forum already, butI thought it might be interesting mentionning that I tried it with both kernels (2.6.17 and 2.6.22) and in both case it doesn't work. So it doesn't seem obvious to me that it would be kernel related... That's it for now...hope it helps for the next release.

Yesterday I reinstalled 64studio to have a stock 2.0 for a test. Keeping my home folder intact It took me all of 3 hours before I was back making music in a 2.0 testing system, with Rivendell, Cinelerra installed and working to boot! So much easier to go it directly from 2.0 Cheers,

Number 2 is possibly a missing package : libnet-dbus-perl : if not installed, then install it and the network admin should work OK.
