Wireless issues

Hi Folks, I just installed 64studio on my Dell Inspiron 6000. Everything works absolutely fine except... wireless. It doesnt show up in the network menu and when I search the package manager it says that the packages are installed. Does anyone know a fix for this or do I have to get an external wireless card (as this would be a downer)?

Hi, Look in synaptic for ipw2200-XXXXXX these are the modules needed for your hardware also take a look at here http://ipw2200.sourceforge.net/ If all the modules needed are installed you still might need to load firmware since it is not distributed with debian due license conflicts. Heres a how-to http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Ipw2200 just go the the section " Installation on Debian Etch" Theres a lot of guides and how to just google around for "debian ipw2200" or "install ipw2200 etch" and so on.
