Hello! I tried to install 64 studio on my new set: Gigabyte M61SME-S2 Athlon 64 4000+ X2 dual 512 mb ram Installation runs without any trouble, then after restart i get only black screen (both normal and single user mode) and all i can do is reset. The live version behaves the same way. Under openSUSE kernel 2.6.23 has full support for my mainboard. What to do? Greetings. tobiasz.

Great to hear!

You say that single user mode also gives you a blank screen? Press F2 while the bootsplash starts up, and try to see where it stops before the thing crashed. I had a similar problem when I just got my PC, but the problem was sorted out after a while. It was Bios inconsistencies combined with kernel issues with my hardware. Check to see if the mobo manufacturer has an update for your bios yet, and install it. If not, bug them as well. The OS should not simply die like that... Cheers,

guess what...

It seems like posting my call for help did the trick all by itself. When I tried starting 64Studio today, all went well, without any special efforts. So now I'm typing this message using Iceweasel as a browser. To answer the question about my video hardware: it is an ATI radeon HD 2400 mobile card. Sorry if I caused any daubts about the quality of your work at 64Studio. Now I'll have to start learning about JACK en about the different programs. Greetings Hans H.

congratulations

I have nVidia GeForce 6100 based built-in video hardware. Lenny and openSUSE 10.2 worked well with it. There isn`t any disk activity after screen turns black, so I guess there`s a hangup. Tobiasz.

After trying to tune openSUSE 10.3 on my new laptop (packard bell AMD Turion 64X2) and succeeding in getting wireless connection using ndiswrapper and in installing ATI Catalyst, I decided to reformat the partitions I used for doing this and to install 64studio. The way the live CD really worked, without any problem, had me convinced. Before that I tried live CD's of Jacklab Audio Distribution and Ubuntustudio, without succes. JAD really messed up my clock... Installing 64Studio seemed to work out well, but after restarting and choosing to load 64Studio I only got a black screen. Hard to understand since the live CD was doing allright. Any suggestions? These are my first weeks trying to work with Linux distributions, so I might have overlooked something trivial... Hans H.
