hi, am i right in thinking that using an app like ardour on 64 studio compared to lets say ubuntu would give me better performance as the 64 studio distro is geared to give the audio more resources? also i tried recording viynal in audacity and it was ok but seamed to record a stutter now and then, i tried the same thing with ardour and it was perfect. nice app. any reason why though. using 32 bit iso dvd install. p4 3ghz 800mhz fsb 512mb ddr2 ram audigy 2 zs card 160gb sata hdd thanks barks

The difference lies in the kernel, and how your applications was compiled to fit your setup. Because 64studio is geared towards media creation a lot of energy goes into making sure those apps works well, while ubuntu has a windows replacement desktop in mind. The applications should look and feel exactly the same, as they come from the same source. Integration and performance is the only difference here.
