Hi. I find 64studio nice at this time, but there is something i can't fix: i tried installing the nvidia-glx package from the CD and it conflicts with xorg?!?! Synaptic removes xorg and finally i find myself without a graphical environment. It's not so important to have a 3d acceleration, but i'd like to have it :) I don't have an internet connection now and i was glad that the installation cd has nvidia-glx. Is there a way to repair the package and install it using dpkg? Sorry for my poor english :)

Daniel, There is some excellent information here concerning the nvidia setup - would it be worthwhile writing this up as a step-by-step FAQ answer? steve~

I finally ended up re-installing my system 3 times over, but I figured it out. Download the NVIDIA driver from the NVIDIA site. Kill Gnome (you need to do this to get the installer working) run the installer from the command-line When asked if Xorg.conf should be updated, answer 'no'. Somehow it screws up your Xorg configuration file preventing X11 to startup. So you have to make Xorg reconfigure itself (as root): dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg You may have to manualy select the NVIDIA driver when asked. Restart your system and your done!

Try downloading the install script at:- http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_display_ia32_100.14.09.html Make sure you have the linux-headers for your version and run the script in single user mode. Regards, Bob.

I think the driver is incorrect for AMD64... go to the nvidia site and get the latest AMD64 one. Otherwise, install 1.4.0, and use the new nvidia kernel modules Free has prepared for us.

Nvidia drivers is ok with 64 studio 1.4.0 ...
