Hey,
I own some Presonus hardware (a firepod...), and spoke a bit with some other owners I know : take care about the pre-amps, they all sound different ;-)

Excellent, I was hoping for this. I got a new setup in mind using 64studio on my laptop. Hspde + Digiface + 3 x PreSonus DigiMax FS. This will give me 24 channels I/O.
Thanks again for the replies. I will let you guys know how things work out.
Stephen.

As I just see on the alsa-project website, they don't make difference if it is pci or pcmcia, or express, they just mention the hdsp chipset and the external boxes, Multiface and Digiface.

Hey,
I have the PCMCIA (PC-card) of the RME Hdsp controler, for my multifaceII. It works very well. Actually, it seems that it doesn't change anything to be on express, it is just a differant pci interface. The chipset controler is the same. Perhaps the best would be to test it in a shop, if possible. But I would bet that it works without any problem.

Generally I have found RME's products to be Linux friendly, but do yourself a favour, and google for the card you want before you buy it. Linux has many users, and more often than not they are either online most of the time, or geeks, or both ;-) If it does work, you'll hear about it somewhere, and the same with problems.
I don't have any real info for you at the time.
