Somehow I have not been able to get sound out of my M2NPV-VM motherboard. Today I've tried to install the driver (which dates back to 2005 on the NVIDIA site) and the only result is that I ended up with no ethernet. The driver used was: NFORCE-Linux-x86_64-1.0-0310-pkg1.run Is there another driver I should try? By the way, should you have made the same mistake, you can get everything back in running order by changing the /etc/modules.conf.old file back to /etc/modules/conf Thanks, Elias

Hi Elias, you seem to have misunderstood the chipset of that board a bit. The correct sound module for the M2NPV-VM would be snd-hda-intel; it has nothing to do with nVidia. But there's another minor quirk with that board even when using the correct sound module - you can read all about it on our community page at (Sound on the Asus M2NPV-VM mainboard), or to make it short, use: options snd-hda-intel position_fix=1 model=3stack in some file called /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-fix. As our readers comments show, this has solved the sound "problem" of that board in most cases. Otherwise, it is a really nice motherboard, and I wouldn't hesitate recommending or using it for another box. HTH, wjl
