Installing new software on a Linux system is not similar to Windows in the sense that programs don't create registry values that can have conflicts - in Linux. Badly coded programs can crash and take for example the Xserver with them, but the Linux kernel keeps running (usually) nevertheless. What am I trying to say..? Well, don't worry but try for example RipperX instead - from Debian. I found RipperX to be a small but capable and simple program - and it gets the job done. You seem to be running a development version of 64Studio. Updating regularly could solve your issue with a stable version of Sound Juicer. Or perhaps downloading the source code and compiling, but I don't think it's relevant here. If you want to stick with Sound Juicer, you could enable the stable version of 64Studio repositories and tell Synaptic to allow "downgrading" software in the preferences. But what kind of havoc this might wreak in your system is beyond me - At Your Own Risk, remember..?

I tried 5 different audio

Does this error appear with all audio cd's? BTW, your version of 64Studio seems a bit outdated. Is it possibly a bug in Sound Juicer version? Can you update your system to 64Studio 2.0? Of course, ripping cd's is possible with Grip, but you need to set up your software repositories to use Debian repos along with your 64Studio medium. After that it is very simple with Synaptic or on the command line: apt-get install grip Please, a little more info would be needed to solve your problem.
