NVIDIA error that isn't fixed by Vesa driversI just installed 64 studio, and am running an XFX NVIDIA 8600 GT with 256 mb of RAM, and cannot get the x server to work. I have tried to use the vesa drivers, and my comp just beeped at me and went blank. So I tried to use the wget and get the NVIDIA drivers, and when I looked at the xserver log, the following errors were returned: end of block range 0x7ffffff (begin 0xd000000 and: no devices detected. Anyone know what could be causing this?

Drivers
There is a problem at the moment regarding drivers. It seems that the new drivers needs a very new version of xorg to run, and this would cause a near fatal backporting operation, leaving 64studio potentially more unstable than most of us would like it to be. Free is working on a solution (There is a ticket opened for this)
This driver (which is the only one that compiles nicely on the latest RT kernel) is also holding back the kernel upgrades at the moment. We need a newer kernel to solve some hardware incompatibility issues with a few isolated machines. 64studio version 2.1 is now in release candidate status, and should be out real soon. After that, follow the 64studio testing version, as it should get interesting from here on...

if you go to NVIDIA and find the link to the driver, use wget for it, and then run the file using "sh". The package will then configure everything for you, you just have to press the nice yes or no buttons.
