64 Studio 2.1rc2 is out

We are glad to announce that 64 Studio 2.1rc2, the second release candidate for our forthcoming stable 2.1 version, has been made available for download.

Please note that is a testing release, so if you want to stick to the stable version of 64 Studio, please use 2.0 for now. However, 2.1rc2 is in generally good shape, and shouldn't present any nasty surprises.

The changelog is available here:

ISO images for AMD64 and i386 are here, with md5sums:

The i386 build is a 32-bit edition which runs on almost all PCs. Choose the AMD64 build for optimal performance on recent PCs.

You can also upgrade from a plain 2.0 install or from previous testing
releases using our testing APT repository:

deb http://apt.64studio.com/64studio/testing 64studio main

and running apt-get dist-upgrade (or click the upgrade button in
the Synaptic package manager).

To avoid breakages, PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU COMMENT OUT OR UNCHECK ANY OTHER APT REPOSITORY (for example the Debian ones), as they might interfere with the upgrade procedure.

Bug reports are welcome on our development mailing list:

or directly on our Trac development site:

Happy testing!

Try FFADO

Hi Martin,
For MOTU support you need the second generation FreeBoB driver, which is known as FFADO. It's still experimental so we don't include it in 64 Studio at present, but you can install it yourself. http://www.ffado.org/

2.1 rc1 from apt/Synaptic?

I had been running on the 64studio Testing repo for awhile, then disabled it. Trying to upgrade to 2.1 rc1, I disabled all repos except the 64studio testing. Apt-get update (or Synaptic) shows only three packages to update, alsa-base, ghome-icon-theme and linux-sound-base. Perhaps I have kept it close on testing and that's all it needs?

I saw the same

I think you are right...

Upgrading

I upgrade my 64Studio to the last release candidate, because the 2.0 gave me some problems, specially at start, and with the gnome network application.

Cheers

Results

No one of the listed bugs it's present in my upgrading. I'm glad.

One thing is stop me and is the synaptic configuration to my laptop. I need use the scroll of my pad, but xorg don't work with the lines I has put in the xorg.conf.

I'll try later.

Cheers.
