Only problem we have is that Lenny (our new stable base) is in freeze at the moment, and we are waiting for the release to be able to continue. 64 Studio 2.1 is based on the 2 year old debian etch, and that is catching up on us at the moment. Look out for 64 Studio 3.0 after the lenny release some time early next year (hopefully!)

Thanks for that note

Thanks for that note Quentin So, is there any reason that you don't use Ubuntu as a base rather than Debian? With Ubuntu, surely you would get all of the work Canonical have done on making a great desktop already, before you started work on making a great audio workstation? I do have to congratulate you on the audio abilities though, I was up and running within a few minutes recording stuff once I had sorted out the graphics problems. Cheers John

I bought Studio To Go and I've moved to 64 Studio. I installed 64 Studio about a month go and had problems with X... I couldn't get it to load and that was a big turn off for me. I then tried Ubuntu Studio and had a complete failure to get any sound into or out of my Delta 1010lt and despite help from the forum and mailing list I had no luck... so in desperation I went back to 64 Studio to see if I could work out why it wasn't detecting my graphics card, which I've had working in various Linux distros straight out of the box. After a little looking around the forum, I found somebody with the same problem as me and managed to sort it out by updating the drivers. However, I think that is major problem that could stop the take up of 64 Studio. In 2008, I don't think there is any excuse for not detecting common NVidia graphics cards (like the 7600) out of the box. Everything else is great :-)

Studio to Go caused a positive mind shift towards Linux DAW's and it is sad to see it close down, even though I never used it myself. If some of the Studio 2 Go guys want to join Daniel and Free, they could just mail them and ask... Studio to Go users are also more than welcome to come and get 64studio, and try it out. Your experiences with Studio to Go could be very valuable to our little community, as the pooling of experience is always a good thing. Tell us what you liked and disliked, and our developers could make small changes to 64studio for the greater good. Cheers,
