Every tine I boot 64studio I have to start alsaconf to get sound and I am unable to save this setting. alsactl store doesnt work. Maybe its the 'Available commands:store card #' thats the problem? lspci | grep audio 00:0b.0 Multimedia audio controller: VIA Technologies Inc. ICE1712 [Envy24] PCI Multi-Channel I/O Controller (rev 02) I have tried root@64studio> alsactl store 00:0b.0 alsactl: save_state:1268: Cannot find soundcard '00:0b.0'... root@64studio> alsactl store ICE1712 alsactl: save_state:1268: Cannot find soundcard 'ICE1712'...

From 'man alsactl' I deduced that running alsactl store is sufficient unless you are using two or more cards in your system. It has worked for me, anyways. Of course, integrated audio chips on the motherboard are a constant source of trouble - you have disabled that in BIOS..? Judging by the driver name you have a decent soundcard.

If you start up fresh, and open qjackctr, what do you see under Settings if you click on the ">" sign next to interface?
