I hadn't been trying to check the Synaptic updates for several days. I was pleasantly surprised to find new version of Ardour! I haven't spent any time with it yet.

Afaik, Ardour compensates the latency automatically, so you don't have to worry about that. Anyway, with 64studio and a M-audio 2496 you should achieve much lower latencies! What's your "cat /proc/asound/cards" output? "cat /proc/interrupts"? Your interface in JACK? If you don't use it at all, it's a good idea to disable the onboard audio card in the BIOS. Check FAQ nº 12 anyway Pablo

Hello. Im trying to figure out a way to automaticlly compensate for Record latency. The latency on my sys is 46 ms.(reported in Jack) which to me is noticeable. Ive tryed Lowering latency but get xruns. Ive got Amd 64 ,on chepo Asus all in one MBoard,Maudio 2496 card. 64 Stuido did not install clean,I had to turn off Acpi. And then enable it after OS was installd. So ive been recording with Audacity which i can tweek in preferences to compensate for latency. But I would really like to get Aurdor to wrk for me. Many Thanks wudzie I am

Ardour 2.4.1 is coming to the 64studio 2.1 release soon. I compiles the 2.4.1 release on my system as a test, and so far it looks quite neat. Now we are just waiting for Mr Fix-it (Free) to make us a package...

Hi! I was also very pleased to find ardour 2.4 in the repositories! I installed it a few days ago but I haven't worked with it yet. Today I was going to record some stuff but I've just read in the ardour website there is a bug I can't live with! No undo for region drags! I often unintentionally drag regions, I'm not very good at pointing things with the mouse. The bug is solved and 2.4.1 is out! I hope to see it soon in the repositories. What do you think, Quentin? Cheers Pablo

You'll find that 64Studio has the latest release of Ardour in it's testing repositories within 2-3 days after release (on average). Quite good for a distro based on etch IMHO.
