New Laptop General Laptop Advice
Hi all
Hopefully not posting an already answered topic !
I pretty new to Linux and completely new to Audio work (currently running Ubuntu on Desktop) and looking for a laptop. I would like to use 64 Studio to tinker around with recording some classical performances (wife is a soprano) usually consisting of Piano / Voice sometimes organ which hopefully will then go onto our website with video etc.......
I am looking to buy laptop and this is one of the uses together with some web development stuff (when I start to learn it !) and would appreciate any general advice and what to lookout for / laptop recommendation's
My budget is pretty thin £300 - £400 ish mark, so dont want to make a mistake ! Would then have to save up for any external mixing / audio input devices etc..
So far I have gleaned that a dual core AMD setup is advised (what speed would be recommended as a minimum ?) and does anyone have any pointers on : -
Good on board wireless devices / on board video device / on board sound chip sets that work reasonably well under Linux,
+ any basic pointers on general recording combinations (thinking some kind of reasonable fire wire / USB external audio device / maybe a mixer ?) would be welcome !
Regarding the Video work I know good on-board video is required, but on my budget think I would have to stick with using the desktop at home for editing !
Thanks
Andy
