If that doesn't work: Just in case, run alsaconf (as superuser, type su, enter the administrator password and type alsaconf). Then run, as normal user, alsamixer. You'll get a GUI with lots of controls. Try on them.

You most probably have a volume control muted or just set to zero. You said your mute keys does not work... hmmm Boot into windows (if you have it dual booted, and use the key to make the sound work. Reboot into 64 Studio. Hopefully that's it... Cheers

Hi, Please post the output of cat /proc/asound/cards. Just in case: Open terminal and type: ~$cat /proc/asound/cards > Desktop/cards.txt Copy and post here the contents of cards.txt Tell us also, what kind of sound are you trying to play and with what application?

Thank you so much to be so quick, I just can't wait to start making music again! Here are my outputs : $ cat /proc/asound/cards 0 [Intel ]: HDA-Intel - HDA Intel HDA Intel at 0xd000c000 irq 16 (Cards.txt give the same thing!) I tried with LMMS, Totem, and online sounds like youtube. Thanks!
