Hi! I need a firewire audio-interface to use with 64studio. I chose firewire because I am planning to use the interface with both, my laptop and my desktop-computer. Both of them are currently running 64studio 2.0 64-bit version and currently my desktop computer has M-audio audiophile 24/96 and laptop has some crappy usb-audio interface. I have done some reading about linux and firewire audio and now I have four interfaces to choose of, there should be some sort of linux support in all of them. So here are my alternatives; Echo Audiofire 4 Edirol FA-66 Presonus Firebox Focusrite Saffire LE Which card should I choose, one of those or none of those?? I am confused... ...and poor so don´t even suggest cards that cost more than 350€$ whatever... Any advice/warning/help is greeted with gratitude...

i have an Echo Audiofire2 working fully in 64studio, and ffado is just in the early beta stages. As soon as the newest jackd is released, ffado will go to a wide-audience beta release. the Echo firewire line is now fully supported by ffado. I have yet to see any other product brand that has this level of cooperation. Plus, the cards seem to be of exceptional quality (Echo also makes the chipsets that other manufacturers use in their soundcards!) plus, I have it working with my dell laptop, which has the supposedly crappy ricoh firewire chipset... ethan see for more details, and also explore the site

...I have done that..

..and they all seem to have some sort of support. Echo is not on that list but It should be supported by ffado.

Check this list...
