Jack GUI in Live CD

I tried to record something using the live CD. My questions are: 1) Is this possible in a live cd enviornment? 2) I setup jack like I always do, but could not get any sound from the speakers. I even followed the instructions found on this site. I selected the right sound card (M-Audio Delta 44). I get sound out of Ubuntu Studio. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!
