Maya on 64 Studio

I have been using Linux distro's for the last 5 years. I am a digital media creator and Film-maker. I am mostly interested in using Maya on linux, and in search for the right distro I discovered that Maya is not designed for Debian-based systems such as this one, though people have gotten it to work. I would like to use 64 studio exclusively and not install a dual-boot option of Suse. If someone has been able to get Maya 8.5 utilizing the 64-bit processing capabilities to work on 64 Studio i would appreciate it if they could let me know about some issues that I may run into and what I could do to fix and/or bypass them.

I haven't heard anything back from Autodesk. However there is an article here which may be helpful, about turning proprietary apps into Debian packages: http://www.debian-administration.org/articles/529
