Hi,

I have been using Ubuntu for a couple years and decided to give 64 studio a try. However, my wireless card does not work with the installation, as it apparently requires a proprietary driver to operate.

On Ubuntu, this driver is installed with the restricted-drivers package, but this doesn't seem to exist in 64 studio or Debian. Yet, it seems that it should.. maybe I am missing it.

Has any else gotten this card to install? Here is the info from lspci:

Network Controller [0280]: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection [8086:4222] (rev 02)

I have tried ndiswrapper without success, but I may have not found a good binary driver that it works with yet. What would really be nice is to get the restricted-drivers package working in 64 studio, as it makes life very easy for people with intel wireless cards and nvidia graphics cards (my laptop has both).

regards, Rich

Umm.. err.... I just figured it out about 10 minutes later. well, I actually found this website - http://www.math.dartmouth.edu/~sarunas/X60sEtch.html - which explains the necessary steps. All I had to do after that was add ipw1394 to /etc/modules, reboot, and badaboom, life with apt is good again.

cheers, Rich
