Emagic A26 USB Audio Interface not supported by current 2.6.21 kernel

I have this nice Emagic A26 USB Audio (with 2 analog inputs, 6 analog outputs, spdif) It's so nice to have it working in most linux distribution out of the box now, but not for current 64studio kernel. i'm using 32 bit version. Is there an easy way to make it work by not having to recompile the kernel? or maybe i'll make a request for supporting it in the next kernel release. I'm quite new to linux, and last times I tried to recompile a kernel on 64studio, i failed badly ehhehehe.

What's the error message?

This interface should still be supported - what's the error message you get when running alsamixer in a terminal? You may have to specify the device number, for example: $ alsamixer -c 1 for the second sound device in the system.

I'll report this to Free. No reason why a kernel should STOP supporting hardware... Thanks for the report

Actually, 64studio, kernel 2.6.17-2-multimedia-486 supports the audio interface.. but I still can't configure it for my laptop's wifi. so i'm gonna be switching around 2 kernels if i need to use Emagic a26.

... will sport a new kernel. Newer kernels have some performance issues, and we don't feel like downgrading 64 Studio just yet... Kernel compiling is a bit of a dark magic. You can spend weeks running in circles if you do it wrong (which I did a few time before I found 64 Studio) My advice: use the other distro's for now, but do check back regularly. Free and Daniel are working hard to make this the most professional multimedia distro around...
