Rosegarden - Jack Sync issue

(Sorry, I had posted this by mistake in the Hardware section, whist it's an application issue, instead...) Hi. Does anyone knows how to get Rosegarden in sync with Jack? I had no problems at all with Hydrogen and Ardour (perfect sync through Jack) but, no matter what I do in Rosegarden's settings, the program does not sync with Jack at all. It just ignores it. MIDI Connections in Jack look OK, the Rosegarden sequencer synchronisation settings look OK too (Sequencer timer = AUTO, Jack Transport Mode = SYNC, all the rest is OFF). Even using Ardour as Time Master does not do the trick. Any hint? Thanks and regards, (Rio) PS. 64 build of 64Studio 2.1 RME HDSP 9632

didn't found out how to sync them, so i do all audio stuff in rosegarden too now. had problems importing stuff with sox; sndfile-resample seemd to be unavailable in repros. so i had to install samplerate-programs as thorgal supposed in ubuntu-forum. could be listed in recomended packages in rosegarden-package!?

tring to record some midi-tracks from rosegarden to ardour, but the syncing doesn´t work. with jacktransport rosegarden ends up a bit slower, begins syncronized but afer a minute or so u can hear it loosing the sync. MTC, no way how can i record my midi from rosegarden into ardour??? OBS: 64studio 3.0 beta

I too had troube syncing Hydrogen, jack and rosegarden. I set both hydrogen and Rosegarden to use jack transport with Rosegarden as Master sending both MMC and MTC (probably only need one or the other) and it works fine (at least it apears so to me. Have to to check more closely about that minimal negative delay that icemouse mentioned). Same with Ardour (acting as master). I can run Rosegarden or Ardour continuously (not looping that is) while Hydrogen does loop (realy good for capturing live jams). I just wish I could get live audio into Rosegarden. I like Audio & MIDI in the same app too

Please try to use QJackCtl's, Rosegarden's and Ardour's transport by turns. Doing this with my 64 Studio 2.1 upgraded to Lenny 64-bit it's fine, but it won't play with the first try. QjackCtl 0.3.2 jackd 0.109.2 Rosegarden 1.7.1 Ardour 2.4.1 Did you enable Jack transport for Rosegarden?

You might think Hydrogen is in perfect sync, because you don't need a unison sync and drum machines are often given a minimal negative delay, a minimal negative delay function is something missing for Rosegarden (odd if you are doing drums by the sequencer, like I do), so you might be fine, because it's not fine ;). The way you wish to use Rosegarden synced to Ardour, Rosegarden should also be in sync with a minimal negative delay, but I don't know the settings to do that. I prefer to have audio and MIDI in one application. Maybe you can use Rosegarden for audio too.

Hi Rio :) if you are not using Hydrogen from the Subversion directory, Ardour and Hydrogen can't be in sync, when using Jack transport. Rosegarden and Ardour can't be in sync at the moment. Hydrogen's SVN version only is in sync, because of a patch. There seems to be a bug in Ardour, please join the Jack dev list. Maybe you can check out MTC instead and see if this can solve the trouble for the moment. Cheers, Ralf
