When searching 00:12.0 Ethernet controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT6102 [Rhine-II] (rev 78) I keep finding this as the module via-rhine $ lsmod | grep via $ lsmod | grep mii $ lsmod | grep via-rhine Cheers, dave.

I don't know what I did, it is working now! But the network icons shows that it has no connection. Now it is working in 64studio the same problem shows up in ubuntu (strange things are going on in my computer:)) Anyway I use onboard LAN $ lspci -vv shows: 00:12.0 Ethernet controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT6102 [Rhine-II] (rev 78) Subsystem: ASRock Incorporation K7VT6 motherboard Control: I/O+ Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV+ VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR+ FastB2B- Status: Cap+ 66MHz- UDF- FastB2B- ParErr- DEVSEL=medium >TAbort- SERR- $ lsmod pppoe 15296 2 pppox 4744 1 pppoe ipv6 245792 20 ppp_generic 28692 6 pppoe, pppox slhc 7040 1 ppp_generic and $ sudo ifup eth1 returns: ifup: interface eth1 already configured In ubunt I get the same! Maybe in Ubuntu the same happens and it solve it self, but I don`t believe it:)

Is it an onboard or pci?. Does: $ lspci or $ lspci -vv return anything about the card? You will need to find which module you need so you can check to see if it's loaded with $ lsmod Just by chance have you tried $ sudo ifup eth0 What does it return? Cheers, dave
