Ardour 2 + Ardour .99

Just curious how I can install ardour .99 alongside ardour 2 without synaptics freaking out and wanting to uninstall a lot of apps?...The distro Musix (from S. America) has both installed and how can I get the same results in 64 studio? Perhaps heres a work there a way to open .99 and earlier session/tracks in ardour2? I get bus errors...can't open...and even flat out shuts itself down... i know that i could painfully import all sound files into a NEW ardouor session but why should i have i missing something here? cheers MiCK

Why not in the next 64studio release...they put in the .99 version of ardour AS WELL AS the new ardour2.5? some of us still work with our old files and the new doesn't like the would be nice to have both...Couple of other distros are including both so perhaps there is a need for it... Just a frustrating thought while trying to get this working...tempted to roll back to 2.0 or earlier or even switch distros so i can actually work with my sessions again. have a few fellow musicians who have sessions recorded here as well and we can't do anything with their work for this reason.. cheers

Thanks dude

I did try the tutorial Quentin provided but ran into snags with Jack...the whole 103. vs. 109 build. so I am currntly downloading the amd64 iso so i can consider a reload...that seemed to work for other users. OR I'll just wait the extra couple of weeks and do the upgrade...hopefully i can install the older ardour then. it really bites to have discs full of old sessions that were done in .99 and can't do much with them in the new ardour...

A workaround

I suggest you go for ardour 2.5. It's not in the repos but you can follow Quentin's instructions. It installs "somewhere else" Then you can uninstall ardour 2.4.1 and install ardour 0.99 through synaptic. I've tried and it works for me. Pablo
