As far as I can tell, 64studio is not recognizing my EMU card so I checked the latest alsa releases, downloaded them... and when I use ./configure it tells me: checking for gcc... no checking for cc... no checking for cl.exe... no configure: error: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH So, I checked Synaptic and it says the package is installed... Any help is greatly appreciated. I want to record some music, after all. haha.

I would totally try that if Synaptic hadn't deleted all my repositories when I tried to add the beryl repositories. If you don't mind, a list of the default repositories would help me immensely. Thanks, -Troy

You have to install the development packages as well

Add the 64 studio etch-backports repository as well, and install the build-essential at least to get the most often used development packages. Then try again.
