ALSA doesn't recongnise E-MU 0404.
Over that past few months, I've been gradually tweaking 64Studio in attempt to incorporate it with my studio but have hit a brick wall. I feel this problem is the source for a majority of my other problems as well, so solving it would be wonderful.
The problem being ALSA won't recognise my E-MU 0404 card (non-USB) but rather says it is a Sound Blaster card. I tried setting it up as such and nothing works, no sound in or out and as far as I can tell, the MIDI doesn't work either... but that's a whole other adventure.
Now, I have 64studio running with the 2.6.27.6 kernel and 1.0.18rc version of ALSA (latest at the time, though I'm going to update to the latest release very soon) as well as the standard multimedia kernel and ALSA. Neither work with the card, though I've heard stories of other people having it recognised fine more or less from installation... which gives me hope.
If you have any ideas, please let me know. I can't wait to start recording.
