Hi. I recently bought a laptop, which has the following video card (as reported on Ubuntu by running lspci): VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 07) Seems that the intel driver on the repos do not support it yet, and the best I've been able to do is run in VESA mode at a lower resolution. How can I install the driver for this card?

The linux headers for 2.6.29 still cannot be installed at the moment because we are waiting for the availability of the kbuild package for the kernel. All these 3rd party driver releases need this to be able to "compile" the driver as a module for the kernel. I am wanting for them as well, as I currently have to run the "nv" driver. It is possible to use the kernel headers from the 2.6.29 source tree, but I want to do it the right way before 3.0 is released as a test...

Ok, thanks for the reply.

Hi. Still a no-go with my graphics card, even with kernel 2.6.29. I'm stuck with VESA. I know something is missing here; it should work with this kernel, as I have it working pretty well with Mepis on a 2.6.27 kernel. What do I need to do here? Is there a package I need to install ? How do I configure xorg.conf? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Paste your result of "lspci -n" without the quotes into here: It might give you a bit more information to work with. Cheers, dave

Does anyone knows if my video card is supported in 64 Studio 3.0?

Sorry I don't have much to offer... Do Intel have a driver package on their site for separate download? I once used such a driver for an Intel desktop motherboard onboard graphics chipset. I know one prefers to use the repository packages, but perhaps if the hardware is very new (?) this is the best way?
