Forum page features

These are a few features I think would be nice if added to the forum pages. Recent Posts/Active Posts "link" on the forum page. Some statistics at the bottom of the page about the most recent user to register on the forum, who is online at the present time etc., A "General Linux" section. Newcomers to Linux from other OS's might find the jump straight into the linux audio world a bit strange as the terminology of linux audio can be sometimes quite overwhelming, some nice general linux introductions & linux HowTo's would be a great welcome to our 64 studio world. A quote box would be great & could also be used for posting cuts of Code examples. Cheers! dave.

is there a way to track threads that we've contributed toward? the old forums used to have this feature, and it was very useful for me as a contributing member. i can't remember which threads i had posted to, and so don't know if someone's replied to them, and if i need to follow up on something!

Great suggestions, if the 64studio forum page was separated and some of the not needed fields removed it would add to the 64studio experience. User friendly function is the key, with the right combination of features and tools. A link taking you to a separate recent posts page would mean we could have a longer list, and get a better overview of active topics & forum history. Technocratic gets my vote. I think the theme is pleasing and easy on the eyes & the colour scheme helps to keep you focused on the main content of the text. Edit: The new Active forum topics menu on the main forum page takes you to the first page of the thread, if the thread has two pages you have to scroll down page one to move to page two. A link in the Active forum topics menu straight to page two would make navigating so much easier, as would a link back to Home » Forums » at the bottom of the thread. The number of entries in the Active forum topics menu needs to be at least doubled to 10 entries. Cheers! dave

I definitely agree with you ... some improvements to this forum would be nice. To become easy and friendly to use. Mailing list is fine but for searching old infos forum is much better. The changes in font and sizes in old threads made them nearly unreadable. For beginning I think would be good also redesign forum page to use space more wisely I really don't like a lot of rolling up and down ;-). Maybe removing fields "company" "developers" "community" just let field "search" and "my_accout" on top. Just my 2 cents. It is quite usual on other websites that if click forum you are redirected on totally different pages with different design which is more technocratic. Who's online

Getting some strange behavior with the information from Who's online. When I log out reports of people online who aren't online? The Markdown syntax has changed many of the older posts, I like to edit & clean up my older entries but this sees them refresh and go to the top of the recent posts list, which disturbs the flow of the new posts. New users and readers of the forum are seeing posts with strange formats and entries containing massive bold text etc., Can this refresh feature be disabled for a while, so the new posts maintain their priority when a post is edited? New Feature Request: When users post their config files or error reports they can take up a lot of page space & loose their config format e.g. The 2.1 xorg.conf is different to the 3.0 alpha xorg.conf. Can we have an insert text file link so logged on users can download the file in it's correct format, or read a long error report without it taking up vast amounts of space on the forum page? Do we still have a link to edit our online profile? I've added my signature ages ago and now I can't find the link anymore? Cheers! dave

Thanks Daniel :) All looking and working nice here. Once you read through the page/thread you have to scroll back to the top to return back to the forum main page. Could this link be at the Top and the bottom of the page? Home » Forums » Cheers, dave

I can remember your post on the list at the end of last year. If the Recent Posts/Active Posts had a link on the main forum page, the main page could be left as it is. The forums are IMHO at the heart of the community and if I had to choose just one feature it would be the Recent Posts link. The forum should be easy to use and an enjoyable experience, most newcomers call here first. Cheers! dave

I requested some of these features already - hopefully they will come soon. The issue was that the 64 Studio corporate website did not look "business like" enough. We should have a users portal though. Q
