Running sweet so far!

Got 64Studio all up and running now. A pleasant surprise is that it's picked up my on-board MIDI ports out of the box. Nice. That gives me the MPU midi running in jack alongside my terratec ICE1712 soundcard, but haven't got the onboard VIA8233 running with it yet. Problems with linkingqsampler/gigedit but from what I gather that's listed as a bug. Got Bristol running with -no-jack-midi. No luck getting buzztard running yet but I'll give it another bash later on. All in all, I've got to this point faster than I did when setting up UbuntuStudio. I'll put it through a few paces tomorrow and see how it performs.

Impressed and very happy

Just run a few preliminary tests.... I loaded an old project and deliberately tried to recreate the crashes I was getting with UbuStu. Good news.... all solid as a rock! I ran a MIDI sequence from Rosegarden: 6 tracks to an external MIDI tone module, 3 Tracks to Hydrogen, 1 track to ZynAddSubFX With Zyn, I hammered a few parameters (which used to crash it, now it handles it fine), then recorded into Ardour. I'm getting a wee bit of latency with the audio recording, but nothing like the crashes and glitches I was getting previously. Now I can work on dialling down the latency. I'm about to give Bristol a bit of a run to see how stable that is.

Hi, The ICE1712 soundcard has always worked well here too, looking forward to hearing how your tests go tomorrow. Great your up and running and enjoying 64studio. Cheers! dave
