The mystery of the missing kernel

Hello all, I have just updated to v2.0. but....My boot screen say 2.6.17 not 2.6.21! I checked synaptic and indeed both 17 and 21 are call it a momentary laspe of reasoning..but where did 2.6.21 actually go? otherwise 2.0 is all systems go!! great work guys.... MiCK

Grub needs an update

Hi Mick, Somehow you've upgraded the kernel package and skipped the step where a new Grub bootloader entry is created. As Quentin says, removing and reinstalling the 2.6.21 should do the trick. You should then have Grub entries for both kernels, and can thereby switch back to booting 2.6.17 if it works better for you. Cheers!

Remove, reboot and reinstall the .21 kernel. Should do it... Cheers

Can anyone help with this? I don't have .21 as a choice on bootup... I can only load kernel .17..
